CloseJames Hartshorne
Experiencing a life-altering traumatic spinal cord injury that left his entire left side paralysed, James found inspiration throughout 6 years of rehabilitation and resolved to empower others to overcome their challenges. He embraced Occupational Therapy, seeing it as the ideal avenue to help those in need. Having navigated the tumultuous road to independence himself, he intimately understands the frustrations, challenges, and isolation inherent in the process. Whether it’s rediscovering lost abilities, mastering new approaches to simple tasks, or acknowledging the myriad physical, mental, and emotional transitions along the way, James knows first-hand, rehabilitation is a deeply personal process that transforms.
James developed a keen interest in neurology and neurological conditions, embarking on a career directed towards cognitive health issues such as stroke and dementia along with a natural interest in traumatic spinal cord injuries. His passion stems from witnessing the profound challenges individuals with stroke and other illnesses encounter on a daily basis, and the resilience they demonstrate in the face of adversity.
Committed to working with individuals towards achieving independence. James thrives in aiding clients reclaim their autonomy and functionality in daily activities. Through holistic, tailored interventions encompassing physical, cognitive, and affective domains, his clients are empowered to overcome mobility challenges, adapt to limitations, and regain a sense of purpose. James finds meaning and fulfillment witnessing the transformative impact of rehabilitation as his clients rebuild their lives with resilience and determination.
